Chronic Pain Doesn't Have to Be Your New Normal

Personalized acupuncture, with Chinese herbal medicine when appropriate, for women dealing with persistent pain.

Pain that lingers for months or years changes how you live. It changes how you sleep, how you move, how you work, and what you say yes to.

You may have tried rest, stretching, physiotherapy, medications, or simply pushing through. And if you've been told that your tests look fine, it can be hard to feel believed.

Treatment uses distal acupuncture, which means the painful area itself is never needled.

You don't have to keep pushing through.

When Pain Starts Making Your Decisions

Persistent pain rarely stays in one place. It follows you into the rest of your life.

Stiff and sore before the day has even started.

Cancelling plans because you don't know how your body will feel.

Headaches that come back no matter what you try.

Aches that have been around so long you've started to call them normal.

Or perhaps you've been diagnosed with a chronic pain condition and are looking for additional support alongside the care you're already receiving.

At Forward Health & Vitality, treatment begins with understanding your individual presentation, not just the location of your pain. Two people with the same diagnosis can have very different patterns, and they deserve different treatment.

Pain Conditions We Work With

I work with women experiencing a wide range of chronic and persistent pain, including:

Back Pain

Whether it's a constant ache or flares that come and go, long-standing back pain can limit nearly everything you do.

Neck & Shoulder Pain

Tension that builds through the neck and shoulders can bring stiffness, restricted movement, and headaches along with it.

Sciatica

Pain, tingling, or numbness that travels from the lower back through the hip and down the leg can make sitting, walking, and sleeping uncomfortable.

Fibromyalgia

Widespread pain, fatigue, and tenderness can be exhausting. Treatment is built around your specific pattern rather than a single protocol.

Peripheral Neuropathy

Numbness, tingling, or burning in the hands and feet may be supported with acupuncture as a complementary approach alongside appropriate medical care.

Osteoarthritis & Joint Pain

Stiff, aching joints in the knees, hips, hands, or shoulders can make everyday movement feel like effort.

Migraines & Headaches

Recurring headaches and migraines can disrupt work, family life, and sleep. Treatment looks at the pattern behind them, not only the pain itself.

Persistent Muscle & Soft Tissue Pain

Long-standing tightness, trigger points, or pain that lingers after an injury or has no clear explanation.

What Your Care Looks Like

01

We Listen

Your first consultation gives us time to understand your pain, health history, daily limitations, and what you've already tried.

02

We Assess

Your presentation is evaluated using detailed questioning and traditional Chinese medicine diagnostic methods.

03

We Personalize

A treatment plan is developed around your individual needs. This is primarily acupuncture, with Chinese herbal medicine added when it's appropriate.

04

We Monitor

We pay attention to how you're responding rather than assuming the original plan will always be the right one.

05

We Adjust

As your pain and overall presentation change, your treatment changes with them.

You Shouldn't Have to Plan Your Life Around Your Pain

You deserve to move through your day without bracing for what your body will do next.

To sleep through the night without waking up sore.
To say yes to plans without worrying how you'll feel.
To feel stronger and more comfortable in your own body.

If you've been living with chronic pain and are looking for an individualized approach, we'd be happy to determine whether care at Forward Health & Vitality is appropriate for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will you needle the area that hurts?
No. I use distal acupuncture exclusively, which means the painful area is never needled. Points are chosen away from the pain, based on your individual pattern.
Does acupuncture hurt?
Most people find acupuncture much more comfortable than they expected. The needles are very fine, and you may feel a brief sensation as they are placed, such as a mild ache, warmth, or heaviness. Acupuncture treatments use sterile, single-use needles.
Can acupuncture help with fibromyalgia or peripheral neuropathy?
Acupuncture may be used as a complementary approach for people living with fibromyalgia or peripheral neuropathy. Treatment is individualized to your specific symptoms and presentation, and it is intended to work alongside your medical care, not replace it.
Will I receive acupuncture, herbs, or both?
Acupuncture is the primary focus of pain treatment. Chinese herbal medicine may be added when your presentation suggests it would be helpful. This will be discussed with you before anything is prescribed.
How many treatments will I need?
There is no single timeline that applies to everyone. It depends on how long you've had the pain, what is contributing to it, and how you respond to treatment. During your initial consultation, we'll discuss what a reasonable course of care may look like for you, and your progress will be monitored along the way.
Is acupuncture safe with my medications?
Acupuncture is not appropriate for every person or situation. Your health history and current medications are reviewed before treatment. If herbs are recommended, they are reviewed against your medications as well.
How do I know if I'm a good candidate?
The best way to find out is through a consultation. If your main concern is chronic or persistent pain, we can assess whether acupuncture may be appropriate as part of your care, and I will let you know honestly if I don't think it's the right fit.
Do you offer direct billing?
We do not currently offer direct billing. A receipt is provided after your visit, which you can submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement if your plan includes coverage for eligible services.
